A Cinch Moment

by | Sep 15, 2017

We have all heard the saying, “Carpe Diem” or “Sieze the Day”. A few years ago I was invited to be part of a group of women who had been identified as someone who had siezed, or cinched, a significant accomplishment in her life. As I contemplated this recognition it took me back through a journey of great growth that had put me on a path to where I was in my professional life at that moment. I concluded that my cinch moment was at my graduation receiving my Master’s degree at the age of 49. It has always been part of my life’s plan to complete my college education but the journey took many turns, as life often does.

Through raising a family and other professional endeavors there came a point where I knew I had to make that commitment to see the dream fulfilled. As I entered my Master’s program I also encountered a significant turning point with my youngest son being diagnosed with cancer. He became my inspiration and so having him by my side at my graduation really felt like I had accomplished more than just getting a degree. He continues to be my inspiration in the work that I do, both personally and professionally. Have you had a “cinch” moment? I would love to hear about it.
