A Measure of Success
The subject of success has been showing up lately so I decided to search through my files and archives to see what I have collected over the years. I must say that your place in time has a lot to do with how you define success but there are some core elements that will hold fast throughout your journey. Here is what I found…
First is a list of Success Principles: a positive mental attitude, going the extra mile, self-discipline, applied faith, a pleasant personality, personal initiative, enthusiasm, teamwork, creative vision, maintaining good physical and mental health, and using the power of the Universe.
A second list of principles listed the following:
- A Principle of Giving – You always have something to give.
- A Principle of Vacuum – Get rid of what you don’t want to make room for what you do want.
- A Principle of Creation – Decide what it is that you want, define it – clearly and specifically, and write it down.
- A Principle of Visualization – Do everything you can to visualize in your mind exactly what you want to achieve or receive.
Next, I found these sayings:
You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by trying. Success is achieved and maintained by those who keep trying.
Every adversity has the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit.
A skill in day-to-day living which adds up to a happy, love-filled life is a success.
And finally, this…
“…even without success, creative persons find joy in a job well done. Learning for its own sake is rewarding…” ~ Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi
What is your definition of success?
