The Power of Friends
I recently came across a little book that was given to me more than 20 years ago by a wonderful friend that talks about the power within each woman for love, faith, and action. It came at a perfect time in my life back then as my children were getting older and I was beginning to find my identity beyond being a full-time mother and wife. It is a collection of wisdom from generations of women who have paved a way for those who came after them. I have cherished this little book not so much for its content but for the special message my friend wrote, in that the powers of love, faith, and action were what she admired about me. That is how I want to be remembered and so it serves as a reminder to me to keep those powers ever-present on my journey. Thank you, Amy.
Here are just a few gems from the book:
Love is a fruit in season at all times, and within reach of every hand. ~ Mother Teresa

It is this belief in a power larger than myself and other than myself which allows me to venture into the unknown and even the unknowable… ~ Maya Angelou

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live vain;
If I can ease one life from aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Into his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.
~ Emily Dickinson
